Spaceport in Singapore? Here.. Really? – RAG day 2

Today went to Rag with ZAHAians…. But I was late for like 15minutes due to the 96 at Clementi Int… So SLOW… like someone… Then we went to FOS for lunch.. ordered Wan Tan noodles for lunch… the serving was a lot… lots of char siew, 1 egg, 6 Wantans Veg and lots of noodles… for like S$1.80… -when will RP start serving food at S$1.80? then had Honeydew sago.. guess the price? S$0.70.. WTH.. 70 cents? RP 70 cents cannot even buy a can of drinks… Sheesh…. Hazel or any EXCO reading my blog…please ask the school to lower the price… the price in NUS IS what I called CANTEEN FOOD!!!

Then we ate till like 2pm then went back to SDE… on our way back… we saw the FOS and CS (computing school)’s Float… when we saw thiers, we immediately concluded that we need to go back to SDE immediately.. cos we are like SUPER behind time… they already finish like painting etc and the whole structure can be see… ours? Our tree still looks like a mushroom and all the trees are still white… hows that…and RAG is 12 AUG!!!!

Today all of us very high… even Pek “Buay Tahan” us… when we were paper “marche-ing” the support of the tree.. Rayson started with this “Roti prata stall” of news papers… then he will put glue in between the newspaper and pass to us after folding it into like a rotiprata… but later, it some how escalated to become a foodstall making all sorts of things… like “Chee chong Fan”, “Butterfly”, “Heart Shaped Cookies” – ok this sounds ridiculous but IT REALLY HAPPENED! Even PEK told us… “die ler… now 3 pm only.. imagine when we staying over at 3a.m, we will be wearing the “Underwear look alike heart shape cookies around SDE” – HAHAHA.. anyway didn’t get to use my shower caps today.. ask our mother tree is not dry.. cannot paint… I am looking forward to paint it soon…

Then the girls got high also… started playing Tiff’s present… the Bubble maker.. Hahaha.. then the guys joined in and all of us started playing bubbles…It Lloyd and PEK even came out with the idea o having us having a special appearance of “bubbles” during the actual RAG itself… hahahaha…all of us took a photo of ourself in a bubble… have to wait for Sky to send me mine… then we went to see “stunt” Lloyd and pek performed standing on stilts… in the studio… was super funny…then occasionally Lloyd will make this… ahhhhhhhhahh sound… (the painfulness of PEK tying lloyd’s leg to the stilt.. too tight)

Today during tea… we concluded the Guys of ZAHA is running 64 bit processors… and the girls… their own version of 64bit and beyond processors…. – Whatever makes them happy…then ended the day as usual… Foosball and Dinner @ YIH…. Going to stay over next week for rag.. must discuss with ZAHAians on the days staying over first…

On the way home.. suddenly talked about the spaceport in Singapore.. and FABIAN DON’T BELIEVE THAT SINGAPORE IS BUILDING A SPACEPORT…Fabian it is opening in 2009… see the article below..

Space Adventures Announces An Integrated Spaceport Offering Suborbital Spaceflights, Astronaut Training and Interactive Visitor Center
Space Adventures, along with a Singapore-based consortium,plans to locate a comprehensive collection of space-related training and flight experiences in Singapore

Singapore – February 20, 2006 – Space Adventures, Ltd., together with a Singapore-based consortium, announced today that it plans to develop an integrated spaceport in Singapore that will offer suborbital spaceflights, as well as operate astronaut training facilities and a public education and interactive visitor center in Singapore.

“Singapore is one of the best-connected countries in the world. It is home to one of the world’s busiest air and sea ports. Singapore, with its superior geographical and economic infrastructure, is primed to be the hub of a new, revolutionary form of travel – in space,” said Eric Anderson, President and CEO of Space Adventures, the only company to have sent private citizens to space.

The focal point of the proposed Spaceport Singapore will be suborbital spaceflights. As each suborbital vehicle reaches its maximum altitude of 100 kilometers, passengers will experience up to five minutes of continuous weightlessness, all the while gazing at the blackness of space set against the horizon of Earth.

“Countries around the world are only just realizing the enormous commercial possibilities of space tourism. The market potential for suborbital spaceflights alone is estimated at $1 billion (USD) annually. We are excited at the prospect of launching an integrated facility here in Singapore that will give the world a whole new perspective to space tourism,” said Mr. Anderson.

The Singapore Tourism Board has been involved with this project for the past three years, facilitating technical discussions with other agencies required for this project and bridging negotiations over possible land sites. Lim Neo Chian, deputy chairman and Chief Executive of the Singapore Tourism Board, said, “Space Adventures and the consortium have given Singapore a big vote of confidence as a choice tourism investment location. Pending the finalization of funds that are expected in the near future, we are optimistic that Spaceport Singapore will quickly become a reality." ……. Continued…..
