Ex Wallaby Day 4 - The Misery Starts
Today we spent the whole day travelling on the road, correction sand tracks. Was supposed to be seated in a Bronco but some stupid officer from BRC came and chased us out to a 3 Tonner occupied by stores and S3 branch people of the brigade for a approximately 48km trip to our first deployment site - god knows where. and only one word can be used to describe the trip, sandy. imagine i am seated in a fully covered 3 tonner, by the end of the first leg of the trip about 2 hours, my BLACK BOOTS TOTALLY became BROWN - like the US army ones, that's how dusty it is. Just reached the first camp site at 7pm. can you imagine solid traveling in a tonner on SUPER bumpy and uneven roads from 12 noon till 7pm and at the same time breathing in sand - i think i am going to get bronchitis at the end of exercise if this carries on. But i pity the Armour vehicle commanders even more. i remember when we stopped at the first rest point, a vehicle commander took off his helmet with comms and goggles. there was a mark of sand on his face just like a tann line but this time its sand. even his lips were white (covered in sand) and his green uniform was like brown. and weikiat have to rub it in at the first rest point he walked over to the smoking area and declared "oh the bronco got aircon" - !@#$$%
Update at 8.00pm
now i am still waiting in the bronco..Marcus, Weikiat together with the rest of the S2 branch people's bronco broken down. Now have to wait for them to arrive before anything can be done.
