Ex Wallaby Day 1/2 - The Arrival

After 6 hours and 50 minutes on the "very pleasent" air new zealand charted flight, we finally landed at Queensland, Rockhampton airport. it is now 0137am, 2nd Nov 2007 (australlian time). Now we are rotting at the airport which looks like a upgraded bus terminal in sengkang waiting for quarantine check on our luggage - the black duffle bag for mud, soil , grasses etc. on the wheels, pockets and soles. Now back to the Flight from Singapore. One word - Horrendous.

Report card as follows:

on the scale of 1-5, (5 being best 1 being worst)
Food : 1 (taste like SFI food)
Service : 1 (comparable to the cook house)
Pilot : 3 (ok la.. )
Air Crew : 1 (its 空中小姐, not 空中老姐. OMG!)

this is the first time i got "kong guan" biscuits - yes literally kong guan biscuits from the supermarket. remember the metal tins ones for inflight meal. when i receive the meal i was like WTH! i haven start exercise yet ler.. combat ration ah? best part this is the first time i got on a plane and there are no pillows on your seats. and no leg rest for the legs. guess what i heared from one of the air crew when one of the passanger asked if there are leg rest for the seats. the reply was: "no leg rest. business class only!" -faints

anyway our dear ivan had a little drama today at the airport. He went to the airport thinking that we will be using the passport to board the plane and gladly left his 11B(military ic) at home. after some commotion he was issued with a 15A(replacement military ic) - lucky guy

while i was writing this, the rest of the people waiting for the check are all sleeping. yes in the airport arrival hall. - it looks exactly like the movie

update: now its 0345am (Australian time)
now i am like super tired after the inspection and still have to wait for the rest of the people - yes all of the people before we can board the bus and move off to camp. i think by the time all of the guys finish, morning liao lor....

time we actually really left the airport.. 0445am (australlian time) - it broad daylight now at Rockhampton.

update: 2235pm (Australian time)
reached Samuel Hill Camp (north) at around 7am this morning and was allocated tent N23. then went for breakfast and was allowed to sleep till lunch. after lunch there was nothing much to do also after we reported to S2 branch so we went to canteen and after that went back to sleep till dinner. -how sian rite..
