MY FIRST DAY as rifleman?!

today reported to my new unit at pasir laba camp. took a cab there as i was lugging my super duper heavy luggage SAF gave me... the cab journey wasn't a easy one.. a very stressful one instead.. the cab meter keeps ticking and by the time it reached pasir laba camp... it is like 25 dollars... and every time the meter ticks, my heart miss a beat.

anyway when i reached the camp, alot of sispec people were already there.. so i lugged my luggage to the main gate.. there the commander of sispec said this:

commander: aiya... not need ask liao, this one sispec, the next one also sispec, that one also sispec..
me: hello, can i know where is Block 226?
commander: oh go pass office change pass.

-well i just proved him wrong.. not every one reported that day are specialist...

i met this guy who was also going to blk 226, so we walked together to the place, he got a very unique name, okala.. -and he is chinese, pure singaporean some more.to my surprise i met my secondary school classmate there also. he was posted to the same vocation as me. anyway we waited at blk 226 for like 15 minutes and no one came to "collect" us, so i called the number on the e-posting order, the person who pick up was a lady..

me: is this pasir laba camp?
lady: apah?
me: oh osrry i think i got the wrong number...

the number on the e-posting order is wrong... then came this major, so i asked him where is the office for the company.. it was then we got our enlightment.this was what he said...

major: i think you all got the wrong block. i think you all posted to MI batallion, they shifted to block 235 already over there.
Me: oh...

so we moved our barang to blk 235 where we met a corporal.. this was the conversation:

me: hi we are here to report
corporal: report for what?
a few of us: here to report to our e-posting order
corporal: erm you all wait ah...

-then he entered a office and later a officer came out

officer: you all here for what?
us: report for vocation/eposting sir?
officer: huh? we got no posting today..let me see you e-posting order...

-showed him the e-posting order...

officer: you all all combat fit ah.. we requier pes C one ler...
us: huh? ya we all pes A and B
officer: you wait ah...

then he went to the office for a while then came out and asked the corporal to bring us to the lecture room...

there the corporal asked us to make some self introduction then the officer came up with a stack of forms to fill in and also a form to make our camp pass..

after which we went for lunch at the cookhouse, then after lunch, we were brought to the camp pass office to make our camp pass. then brought back to the same lecture room again for briefing by some other officer.. it was then we knew that we are unexpected soldiers reporting at the unit. by the way only 14 people were suppose to report that day. then we watched a corporate video of the unit and were introduced to what we are going to to.. and to my surprise my whole batallion only has 45 people (including us 14) like shocked..

then we were brought to our new bunks.. so exciting.. 2 man bunk then dinner.. after dinner we were told to do area cleaning for the very very dusty bunk.. oh yes i got a new buddy... Gabriel.. tomorrow will be a better day and thats my first day in my new unit!

oh yes.. my company only has 8 people..... no sergeants. and only 2 PC.. nothing else..
